Casa Chukum

Arriving in Bacalar means arriving by lagoon time: the town runs a few blocks deep, and Casa Chukum sits one block from the water on Avenida 3. Check-in starts at 3pm. The hotel holds four room categories: Suite Deluxe and Suite Premium with king or queen beds, a Matrimonial with twin double beds, and the Suite Chukum, which adds a private terrace of 25 square metres. Each room is individually finished with handmade tile work, black-out curtains, air conditioning, a safe, and dimmable lighting, so no two suites read quite the same. Breakfast is included and served each morning in the hotel's communal areas. Bacalar itself is compact enough to cover on foot or by bike, and the hotel arranges local tours, from sunrise paddleboarding on the lagoon to boat trips and cycling routes into town. You can walk to the water in minutes. Luggage storage runs up to twelve hours past check-out, useful for late departures on the ADO bus line six blocks away. It is a small hotel, built around a single idea: put guests close to the lagoon and let the rest of Bacalar happen at an easy pace.
