Casa de Shiva
A twelve-room garden pousada set in the Chapada dos Veadeiros highlands
Set into a garden slope above the Cerrado scrubland, Pousada Casa de Shiva looks out over the forested Vale da Reserva and the mountains that ring Alto Paraíso in Goiás state. The Chapada dos Veadeiros national park, a UNESCO natural heritage site known for its canyons and waterfalls, lies a short drive away. The pousada keeps to twelve rooms, most with private balconies facing either the valley forest or the internal garden and pool. Suíte do Vale rooms open onto the Vale da Reserva treeline and run to 47 m², with a king bed and a private whirlpool bath. Suíte do Alto and Suíte do Cerrado rooms sit closer to the garden, with partial mountain or pool views and queen beds. A heated pool and sauna sit within walking distance of the village centre, useful after a day on the trails to nearby waterfalls such as Cachoeira dos Couros and Vale da Lua. Breakfast is made to order rather than served buffet-style, with guests choosing dishes on arrival. It is a quiet stay. Staff help plan onward trips into the park's canyons and swimming holes, tailoring routes for hikers and those content to sit on the balcony and watch the Cerrado light change. Check-in runs from 2.30pm, checkout by noon.
