Cauayan Resort
Private island in Bacuit Bay, thirty villas, El Nido, Palawan, Philippines
Skip to product information
Set on its own island in Bacuit Bay, Cauayan occupies a stretch of Palawan coastline ringed by limestone cliffs and reef. The resort holds thirty villas across eight types, from a 55 m² Lagoon Villa built around a man-made lagoon and waterfall to a 185 m² Premium Sunrise Pool Villa facing El Nido's sunrise side. Several villas carry their own infinity pool, and pool depths run from 1.1 to 1.3 metres. Water Villas stand on stilts over the shallows. You can hear the tide from their wooden decks. Beach Front and Beach View villas sit steps from the sand, with outdoor showers and wooden terraces built from local materials. Power comes from an on-site solar plant, and drinking water is drawn from seawater through the resort's own desalination unit. The kitchen sources herbs and vegetables from an on-site garden, part of a wider set of practices that includes composting, wastewater treatment for irrigation, and reef and turtle conservation work with local groups. Larger pool villas offer optional butler service. Check-in for most villas is from 2pm. Children under six are barred from the Lagoon and Water Villas for safety reasons. The result is a quiet, self-contained base for couples, built for privacy rather than volume, with the bay and its limestone islands doing most of the talking.
