Cherry Hill Park

Boarding the on-site bus for a run into Washington, DC, guests skip the drive and the parking search altogether. Cherry Hill Park sits in College Park, Maryland, a short ride from the capital's monuments, and has worked as a stopover for travellers since 1921, when the Gurevich family began letting people camp behind their roadside store. Five generations later, the family still runs it. The park now spans full hook-up RV sites, log cabins, cottages, glamping yurts and pods, with standard, back-in and pull-through options for RVs of any size. Premium log cabins sleep up to eight and come with kitchens, covered porches and fire rings; three cottages, each a converted house, sleep between 12 and 16 across multiple bedrooms and bathrooms. On site, two pools, a splash park, a hot tub, sauna and small gym fill the hours between outings. A guided evening coach tour, running twice weekly through the season, passes the Capitol, the Lincoln Memorial and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial lit after dark. Bathhouses and laundry facilities are kept to a standard several long-term guests single out as unusually clean. Some RV sites and one cabin are built for wheelchair access, with ramped entries and widened doorways. Check-in is at 3pm. It remains, after a century of changing form, a family business first.
