Château des Vigiers

Château des Vigiers dates to the 16th century, built as a fortified manor on a wine estate between Bergerac and Saint-Émilion. The estate now runs two hotels: 25 rooms inside the original château, and 40 more in the newer Relais set among the vines. Vineyards still surround both buildings, and the golf course, laid out over 27 holes across three combinations, threads through them, with one closing hole facing the château itself. Les Fresques, the estate's fine-dining room, has held a Michelin star for a decade; the Bistrot serves Périgord dishes on a terrace above the fairways. The spa occupies the estate's old wine cellar, an unusual reuse of a working building, with an indoor pool, a hydrotherapy pool fitted with a dozen jet stations, a sauna, a hammam, and a jacuzzi. Guests can walk or cycle out among neighbouring wine estates for tastings and cellar tours, some on-site, others a short drive through the Bergerac appellation. Bedrooms come with private bathrooms and Wi-Fi throughout. It is a working landscape as much as a hotel: vines run close to the fairways, and the château's stone walls look out over both. Breakfast is served daily on the property.
