CocknBull Boutique Hotel

The CocknBull is a five-apartment hotel on the Campaspe River, in Echuca's old port precinct. The building dates to 1876, and its rooms mix contemporary furnishing with period pieces that nod to that history. Each apartment is self-contained, with a full kitchen, split-system heating and cooling, and its own bathroom; together they sleep up to 18 guests, which makes the whole property bookable as a single group retreat. Apartments are named after paddle steamers, past and present, that have worked this stretch of river. The Emmylou and Adelaide suites sit on the ground floor with garden and street views; Philadelphia, Henry Charles and Etona occupy the first floor, reached by external stairs. A solar-heated pool and a courtyard garden face the river and give guests a quiet spot to sit out. It is a short walk from here to the Port of Echuca, with its fleet of paddle steamers, and to the town's restaurants, cafes and bars. Cycling and walking paths nearby follow the river and its wildlife. The hotel suits weekend breaks, longer stays and bridal parties needing interconnecting rooms before a wedding. Rooms come with an espresso machine, smart TV and complimentary WiFi, and there is a red gum bar and dining room for private use on site.
