Colina Bed and Breakfast

Bella Collina is the work of two people who bought a logged-off hillside in 2006 and turned it into an inn. Melody spotted the property first and called her husband Scott to see the view; he agreed on sight, and the couple spent months clearing brush and vines before shaping the meadow, lawn, and pond that now frame the house. The name means beautiful hill, and the site earns it: the inn sits above vineyards, farmland, and the Coast Range, on 30 acres in the Eola-Amity Hills. Each of the seven suites is named for a distinct Oregon region and finished with heated tile floors, double-headed showers, and a private deck or patio. The Wallowa Suite, on the lower level, runs to 440 square feet with an electric corner fireplace and two lounge chairs. A third-floor Sky Loft looks out over the meadow at bird height, and a common deck off the great room opens to the same panorama through floor-to-ceiling windows. Breakfast is a two-course, farm-to-table affair served each morning, with a wine and snack hour later in the day. The innkeeper, Sherwood, doubles as chef and host. It is a small, family-run stay rather than a hotel, set among more than 250 wineries within a half-hour drive and about an hour from Portland and the Oregon coast.
