COMO Laucala Island

Set on its own landmass off Vanua Levu, Fiji's second-largest island, Laucala spans rainforest, volcanic peaks, farmland, and a fringing coral reef, with white sand marking where the land gives out. Twenty-five villas sit across this terrain, each with its own pool and a view claimed entirely by that villa alone. Some face open ocean, others look into jungle or lagoon, and none share sightlines with a neighbour. The island runs its own farms and gardens, and much of what appears at the table starts there. Dining moves between the Plantation House and the Seagrass Lounge, from barefoot lunches on sand to slower, candlelit meals after dark. A personal host is assigned to each villa. Days are largely unscheduled. Guests choose from reef dives, sailing, horseback riding, rainforest trails, an eighteen-hole golf course, and a wellness programme built around the same nature that surrounds the villas. Taveuni, the neighbouring island known for its trails and reserve, lies a short crossing away for those who want to leave Laucala for an afternoon. Arrival is by private jet onto the island's own runway or by the Air Laucala shuttle connecting from Fiji's main gateway, with logistics handled before guests set out. What results is a self-contained stretch of coast and forest, run at whatever pace its guests choose.
