DAM Boutique Hotel & Restaurant

DAM boutique hotel & restaurant is a small city stay on Ulica Vinka Vodopivca in Nova Gorica, a short walk from shops, bars and public transport. The building reads as gallery as much as hotel, its rooms finished in white, black and brown with artwork placed through the halls and corridors. Each room carries its own character rather than a repeated template. The Queen Suite runs to 42 square metres with a king bed, a freestanding tub set in the middle of the room, a balcony and air conditioning; breakfast can be taken there or downstairs in a ground-floor hall facing the garden. Wi-Fi runs at high speed throughout, and parking is free on site. Downstairs, the restaurant opens Wednesday to Saturday evenings under chef Uroš Fakuč, who runs a tasting menu built on Soča trout, cuttlefish with truffle and prosciutto from the Vipava Valley, and rice cooked with oysters. The wine list runs to 300 labels drawn from Slovenia, Italy, France and Austria. Seating is in the main hall or, for a quieter table, a private room set in the rotunda. It is a compact address, built for guests who want design and a serious kitchen within walking distance of the town centre, rather than a resort-scale stay.
