Deep Creek Fishing Club

Set along the pebbled shoreline of Cook Inlet at Ninilchik, Deep Creek Fishing Club faces a run of snow-capped volcanoes across the water. Bald eagles work the airspace above the property, and moose bring calves through the grounds on their way to the beach. Guests can watch both from the porch. The lodge runs on weekly, all-inclusive packages built around fishing and fine dining, with service pitched at a small, attentive scale rather than volume. Each of the oceanfront cabins measures around 800 square feet and sleeps two, with a king-size hickory bed dressed in Hudson Bay blankets and flannel sheets. Rooms come with a private en suite bathroom, a mini fridge and satellite television, plain comforts rather than flourishes. Sunsets over the inlet draw guests out to the water's edge most evenings. It is a quiet, working stretch of coast, not a resort strip, and the lodge keeps to that register: cabins face the sea, the fishing is the point, and the volcanoes across the inlet stay in view from breakfast to last light.
