Delgattie Estate

Booking Delgattie Estate means taking the whole house. The manor holds just three guest suites, each with its own sitting room, en suite bathroom and separate entrance, so couples or small groups can have the run of the place without crossing paths with other guests. Built in 1902 from dolomite and limestone, the house gained a second storey around 1925, added specifically to fit a billiard table too large for the original roofline. That table, crafted in Melbourne, still sits in the upstairs Spehr Billiard Lounge, along with an antique pianola hoisted in by the same method. Guests can take drinks on the balcony off the lounge in the evening. Downstairs, the Bankside Dining Room seats twelve around a French oak table shipped from Bordeaux, lit by a crystal chandelier and warmed by an open fire; exclusive-use bookings can arrange a private menu built around Limestone Coast produce and wine. Each suite carries its own character: the Frew Suite keeps its original leadlight windows and a claw-foot bath, the Walker Suite faces west over the garden, and the Hay Suite has blue subway tile shipped in from the UK. Breakfast can be taken in-suite or next door at the Commodore on the Park. The gardens and lawns run wide around the house, open for guests to sit out during their stay.
