Dhigufaru Island Resort

Set inside the Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve, Dhigufaru takes its name from the long reef that wraps the island's edge. Rooms are arranged around the island's perimeter rather than clustered inland, so nearly every villa faces open lagoon or ocean. Beach Villas line the sand in twenty rooms split between the calmer Boaku side and the sunset-facing shore, while ten Semi Water Villas sit closer to the Aanu Sandrock, catching the sunrise from a private deck. Pool Water Villas step straight from a plunge pool into shallow, clear water over the reef flat; the Sangu Suite goes further, holding its own pool at the point where sand gives way to lagoon. A Two Bedroom Family Beach Villa adds a second bathroom and a wide veranda for families sharing space. Offshore, the reef itself is the draw. A PADI dive centre runs courses and guided dives, and canoes are available for exploring the shallows without a tank. Three types of fishing excursion go out by boat, from relaxed sunset trips to more focused outings, and a dolphin cruise and stargazing cruise both use the same speedboats after dark. Children have their own club with a library and a pool sized for them. The lagoon stays shallow enough to wade for long stretches, which suits the slower pace of an island this size.
