Diwatu Villas

Green roofs cover every villa at Diwatu, planted with earth and flowering ground cover rather than tile or thatch. The effect is architectural and practical: the living roofs insulate the rooms below and draw bees and nesting birds, so the villas read as an extension of the coconut grove around them rather than a clearing cut into it. No tree was felled during construction, and several now grow straight through the buildings. Five villa types are offered, from the one-bedroom Villa Alto with its loft sleeping area and high-peaked ceiling, to two- and three-bedroom Earthen villas, up to the two-storey Casa with three ensuite bedrooms sleeping up to nine. Each has its own pool, an open-air kitchen and living space, and a private garden with a barbecue. Guests can collect eggs from the on-site chicken coop. There is a fishpond too, and whatever you catch, the kitchen will cook. The grove sits a short drive from El Nido town, its beaches, and the airport. There is no restaurant or 24-hour front desk, but the kitchen arrives stocked with breakfast basics, drinks, and snacks, and security runs around the clock.
