Doric Bed Boutique Hotel Resort

Doric is a 21-room hotel set outside Agrigento, facing the Temple of Juno across the Valley of the Temples. The site was bare farmland when bought in 2008; the owner, an architect, built the first residence himself and opened it as a hotel in 2013. Expansion followed in stages: new rooms with private terraces and pools in 2018, five villa suites in 2022, a spa in 2023, and a rebuilt central wing of junior suites in 2024, each with a hot tub facing the temple. Rooms run from Superior to Villa Suite, several with private plunge pools, set among olive and pistachio trees and a historic vineyard. The hotel runs its own farm, growing almonds, pistachios, olives and grapes, and holds a licence to harvest prickly pears from the valley for its own amaro. Solar panels and a water-treatment system cover most of its energy and irrigation needs. The Ambrosia restaurant cooks with produce from that farm and from local suppliers, serving Sicilian dishes at breakfast, lunch and dinner. A heated pool with a swim-up bar looks toward the temple and the sea. Agrigento's centre and the San Leone beaches lie four kilometres away. The wellness centre adds a sauna, a cold room and a panoramic hot tub, all facing the same ruins.
