Dorje’s Resort & Spa

Arriving by road above the Annapurna cable car, guests climb into Sedi Hills before the land drops away to Phewa Lake below. Dorje's Resort & Spa sits on that slope, eighteen rooms and suites built from local wood and stone, with the lake and hills framed from most balconies. It is a compact stay. The Dorje Suite and Jen Suite each hold a separate sitting room, a jetted tub, and a private view over the water; the fourteen Deluxe Rooms share a similar outlook from wide balconies, while two Standard Rooms face an inner courtyard. The resort was built by Dorje Lama, who opened his first restaurant, Moondance, in Pokhara's Lakeside in 1991 and later started a farm in Sedi to grow vegetables for his kitchens; produce from that farm still supplies the resort's dining room. A multi-tiered pool steps down the hillside, giving separate pockets of water to separate groups, and a Finnish sauna and spa sit beside it. Staff include women from the surrounding community trained on-site to make the crockery used at table. Days here run at a slow pace: swim before breakfast, walk the hills, or sit on the balcony and watch cloud move across the lake. Chauffeured transfers and sightseeing can be arranged through the resort. Breakfast is included and served each morning in the dining room.
