Canvas walls, a wood-burning stove, and a vintage outdoor bath set on a deck above the water: Tent Kōrimako and Tent Kānuka sit in private bushland at Tata Beach, looking out over Golden Bay. Kōrimako sits level with the ground, closest to the shore, with a wide outdoor area and baths tucked to one side. Kānuka is set higher, up among the trees, with a front-balcony bath and a fire pit at the foot of the stairs below. Both run on solar power, backed by a generator and battery bank, and both come with a super king bed and a kitchenette stocked for breakfast. Underfloor heating warms the bathrooms in winter. Mesh windows open to the summer breeze. It is a two-tent stay, no more. Guests reach their tent by electric buggy, which also runs down to Tata Beach itself, and can hear birdsong before the kettle is even on. The property lies ten minutes from the northern edge of Abel Tasman National Park and fifteen from Takaka township, with kayaking, salmon fishing, and Wainui Falls all within reach. Extras run to private chefs, massage, and guided kayak trips. Check-in runs from 3pm to 8pm, check-out by 11am.
