Bird Watching

The Okavango Delta's mix of permanent lagoons, floodplains and dry woodland draws around four hundred species of land and aquatic birds, and this variety is the reason many guests visit Eagle Island Lodge specifically to watch them. Sightings can be made from a mokoro gliding through the reed beds, from a boat on open water, or on foot during a guided walk, each vantage giving access to different habitats and species. Guides trained in the area's birdlife help identify calls and behaviour along the way. The lodge's setting within the Delta itself means birding is woven into most other activities on offer.
