Horseback/Helicopter Safari

This excursion pairs two ways of covering ground in the Okavango: a private helicopter flight over the delta's channels and floodplains, followed by a horse-ride through the same wilderness at eye level with its wildlife. Guests see the UNESCO-listed delta from above first, tracing its waterways and islands, then dismount into a slower pace on horseback, moving quietly among the animals that live there. Eagle Island Lodge was first to offer this particular combination in Botswana. Between the two modes, the outing gives a fuller sense of the delta's scale and its quieter corners than either activity alone.
