Emeraude Beach Attitude

Belle Mare beach runs long and pale in front of Sunrise Attitude, its lagoon shading from turquoise to a deeper green further out toward the reef. This stretch of the east coast is built for slow mornings: sand underfoot, a salt breeze off the water, little urgency to be anywhere. The hotel keeps to adults only, and the pace follows suit. Snorkelling here is easy and close to shore, and a glass-bottom boat runs out over the coral so guests who prefer to stay dry can still see what lives beneath the lagoon. Catamarans leave for Île aux Cerfs, the small island a short crossing away. Rooms range up to villas and swim-up units that put a plunge pool steps from the terrace. Furniture, lampshades, cushions and mirrors across the public rooms come from Mauritian makers — rattan from workshops near Terre Rouge, stoneware from a local quarry business, fabric from a textile house running since 1989. The Market restaurant serves breakfast through dinner with a market-stall energy; Kot Nou, the signature room, turns out Mauritian classics like rougaille and cari after dark. Bar 31 looks straight over the lagoon and gets loud on match nights. Beyond the pool fence, casuarina trees line the beach and a food cart parks nearby most days. It is a quiet, sea-first kind of stay.
