Explora Valle Sagrado & Machu Picchu
Explorations here begin at the door and fan out across the Sacred Valley, reaching Ollantaytambo, Moray, Chinchero and Pisac on foot, by van or by bike. The lodge sits at Urquillos, near Cusco, surrounded by corn fields and the mountains that ring the valley floor. It was built as a base for a single purpose: to get travellers deep into a landscape shaped by Inca terracing, colonial towns and Andean peaks the locals call Apus, believed to guard both people and land. There are fifty rooms in total, forty-four standard rooms of around 430 square feet and six larger suites near 570 square feet, each looking out over the same corn plantations and hills. More than forty explorations are included in the stay, guided by an outdoor team trained to read the terrain and its history. Days can run from archaeological sites to isolated villages barely touched by modern traffic; evenings return guests to a restaurant shaped by Peruvian chef Virgilio Martínez, who reworked the menu around Andean ingredients. A spa, pool, library and gardens fill the gaps between outings. Wi-Fi is complimentary throughout. It is a lodge built less for lingering than for departure each morning into the valley beyond it.
