Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth
Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth is built directly above Montréal's central train station, with corridors that feed straight into the underground city and its thousands of shops, cafés and restaurants. The Bell Centre and McGill University are both a short walk from the door. Inside, 982 rooms include 91 suites, ranging from compact doubles to the Royal Ville-Marie Suite, a 2,497 sq ft residence reached by its own glass lift. Rooms carry a retro-modern look, a nod to the hotel's 1960s heyday, with plush bedding, Nespresso machines and Le Labo toiletries as standard. Fairmont Gold rooms occupy the 18th and 19th floors. Guests there get a private lounge, breakfast and evening hors d'oeuvres. The Mile End Suite, on the 20th floor, has a mural drawn from the neighbourhood's architecture and a dining area for eight. Beyond the rooms, the hotel runs to 50,000 sq ft of meeting space and a health club with an indoor pool. Three restaurants anchor the ground floor, among them the long-running Beaver Club. Montréal itself supplies the backdrop: more than 40 festivals run through the year, and the Casino de Montréal sits nearby. It is a hotel built for a city that never quite stops.
