Set on former farmland outside Clonakilty, Fernhill Hotel & Estate occupies a Georgian mansion built in the early 1800s, once the manor house of a 1,257-acre estate. Forty-three bedrooms fill the house across five categories, from Classic rooms with period detail to Garden Rooms opening onto private terraces and a suite with a separate living area and walk-in wardrobe. Beds are king-size throughout. The gardens in front of the house were developed through a major expansion in the 1980s and remain the estate's defining feature, with paths running down toward a wooded river valley the family calls the glen. You can walk it freely, or simply take a seat near the water. The kitchen draws on farms and coastline nearby, a habit traced back to the founder's own background as a butcher. Clonakilty town lies a fifteen-minute walk away, and Inchydoney beach and the wider Wild Atlantic Way are a short drive further. Cork Airport is 45 minutes by car. Solar panels heat the water, and the hotel draws its own supply from an on-site well. Check-in runs from 3pm.
