Flore Hostel

Setting out most mornings for the volcanoes above town, guests here gather gear on the rooftop terrace before a van collects them for Acatenango or Pacaya. The hostel sits inside Antigua, Guatemala's old colonial town, a short walk from the plaza and close enough to the bus and shuttle points that logistics rarely take more than a phone call. Rooms are dorms, not private suites: a six-bed deluxe option and two twelve-bed dorms, each fitted with reading lights, lockers and blackout curtains for guests coming back late from a night hike. Breakfast is included and served each morning. It is a compact stay, built around movement rather than lounging. The in-house travel desk runs the Acatenango volcano hike, a jeep alternative to the same viewpoint, and a shorter half-day trip up Pacaya, where the trail crosses old lava fields still warm underfoot. Beyond the volcanoes, the same desk books shuttles to Lake Atitlán, the Semuc Champey pools near Lanquín, and the ruins at Tikal via Flores, along with transfers to La Aurora airport in Guatemala City, 25 km away. Between departures, the patio and rooftop terrace serve as the hostel's slow moments, where guests drink local coffee and compare notes on which trail to take next. The pace suits people passing through on their way somewhere higher up.
