Four Seasons Island Explorer
The Four Seasons Island Explorer is a three-level catamaran, 129 metres long, that sails between the Four Seasons properties at Kuda Huraa and Landaa Giraavaru in the Maldives. It is both the transport and the base: you sleep aboard, and the reef comes to you each morning when the anchor drops.
The water programme is the reason to be here. Marine biologists join the boat and lead snorkel sessions off island beaches; dive guides take you to sites that are not reachable from a land-based resort. The southern region holds reefs where manta rays and whale sharks are regular sightings — not guaranteed, but frequent enough that the itinerary is built around them. Above water, the deck carries kayaks, windsurfing kit, and wakeboarding equipment. Fishing is also available.
The Explorer also calls at uninhabited islands and at working villages where local communities offer traditional dances and crafts. These are not staged performances arranged for tourists — they are visits to places the boat can reach precisely because it moves between the atolls rather than staying fixed at a resort jetty.
The catamaran operates on a set route between the two Four Seasons island properties, so the itinerary covers the reef systems of the North Central Province across multiple days at sea.
