Furusund Vardshus
Furusund Vardshus is an inn set on the strait in the northern Stockholm archipelago, an hour from the capital by road. The restaurant's double doors open straight onto the water, so the line between dining room and shoreline barely registers. It is a compact stay. Sixteen rooms make up the hotel, most facing the sea, each fitted with modern furnishings, a coffee machine, and bathrobes. The dining room seats up to a hundred, with a separate bar lounge for around thirty more, and an orangery kept for larger parties who want the view to themselves. Guests can end the evening in the sauna and jacuzzi, or start it with a drink by the lounge fireplace before dinner. Large cruise ships pass close by the restaurant on the strait, a sight guests can watch from the terrace over lunch or dinner. The hotel also runs conferences, taking groups of up to seventy, with the option of exclusivity for smaller parties year-round. A jetty gives direct access to the water for a swim between meetings or meals. Dogs are welcome in both the rooms and the restaurant. The nearest bus stop sits about 400 metres from the hotel, with onward connections toward Norrtalje and Stockholm.
