Setting out for the gorillas each morning, guests reach the Nkuringo trekking sector in about fifteen minutes, one of four sectors ringing Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and home to several habituated families. Gorilla Heights Lodge stands at the highest point of that sector, so the walk back after a trek climbs uphill through forest canopy before the lodge appears. It is a compact stay, with fifteen cottages across standard, deluxe and family categories, each with a private balcony facing the forest and, on clear days, the Virunga mountains beyond. Deluxe cottages add an outdoor bathtub on the balcony; the family cottage, at 165 m², sleeps four across two rooms. Beyond gorilla tracking, guides lead nature walks through Buniga Forest and birdwatching outings through the reserve's dense understorey, while golden monkey trekking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and canoeing on Lake Mutanda both run as half-day trips from the lodge. Community visits with the Batwa cover honey gathering, fire-making and basket weaving, hosted by the tribe itself. Humura Restaurant serves set menus from two terraces, one over the forest, one facing the Virunga range. The IKE Spa gives trekkers somewhere to recover afterwards. Rooms come with air conditioning, a fridge, and Wi-Fi throughout. Check-in runs from noon.
