Gran Hotel Cochabamba

Gran Hotel Cochabamba is set on Plaza de la Recoleta, a seven-minute drive from the city centre. The building splits into two wings: a heritage block, where rooms open onto a terrace facing the hotel's old pergola, and a modern wing built for longer stays and larger groups. There are fourteen room categories in total, from a Quadruple Suite with four single beds to the Presidential Suite, designed by Bolivian designer Maya Mac Lean with two entrances, a dining area for six and a separate jacuzzi and shower. Apart Suites add a kitchenette and living room for extended visits. Most rooms carry the basics of a modern stay: air conditioning, minibar, safe and Wi-Fi. Some open onto a balcony over the pool or the city. Guests can eat at the on-site restaurants or work from a desk in an Apart Suite Auxiliar. A spa, fitness centre and swimming pool round out the property. Outside, the plaza gives onto gardens, fountains and a church, with the Cristo de la Concordia statue and the colonial-era Main Plaza both a short trip away. The hotel holds a five-star rating. It reads less like a single building than a small compound of styles, old pergola on one side, glass and air conditioning on the other.
