Grand Hotel Yerevan

Grand Hotel Yerevan is a fixture of Abovyan Street, built between 1926 and 1928 as the first large public building raised in the newly planned Armenian capital. Designed by Nikoghayos Buniatyan, the city's first chief architect, it went up on what was then called Astafyan Street, the main thoroughfare of pre-Soviet Yerevan, and stood over the square before that square, or the two larger ones nearby, had fully taken shape. The building predates Republic Square. Known for years as Hotel Yerevan, and before that Hotel Intourist, it has watched the city's main events from the same corner ever since. Each of these signature suites keeps photographs or personal items connected to its namesake, and guests can arrange a visit to the corresponding house-museum. Rooms run from Classic Queens to a Presidential Suite with a spa bath. The Nairi Restaurant and Winter Garden handle dining, and a seasonal rooftop pool sits above the historic rooftops of central Yerevan.
