Arriving through manicured gardens off Wallcliffe Road, guests reach a manor house built for a slower pace than the wine region around it usually allows. Grand Mercure Basildene Manor combines its original character with the apartment format of the Accor Vacation Club, giving the stay a domestic, settled feel rather than a standard hotel layout. It holds 17 rooms and suites in total. The Manor Room is compact, at 15 square metres with a queen bed, while the King Bath Suite runs to 35 square metres across two king beds. Breakfast is served each morning in the conservatory, a bright common room that also does duty as the setting for the property's daily afternoon tea. Elsewhere the manor keeps a cellar, a lounge, and a fireside reading room for the cooler months, along with a pool, a tennis court and a pergola looking over the lake. You can walk to a farmers market and a cluster of restaurants in under twenty minutes. Watershed Winery, Voyager Estate and Leeuwin Estate are all within a ten-minute drive, and Margaret River's own golf course is close by.
