Green Yard Hotel

Set on half a hectare in the upper part of Karakol, Green Yard sits within reach of Karakol National Park and Issyk-Kul Lake, 16 kilometres away. Fruit trees and flower beds surround the main house, giving the property its name and its produce. Rooms come in three grades: standard, halflux and lux, the last with heated bathroom floors and garden or mountain views. Some stand in separate houses with their own kitchens, useful for guests wanting privacy. Breakfast draws on the garden itself, apples, apricots, plums and walnuts among them, alongside homemade jams and local chai. A conference hall covers 100 square metres, fitted with a projector and audio system for meetings or workshops. Outside, there is a barbecue area, a children's playground and an open fire pit. Bikes can be rented for exploring the surrounding village. It is a five to ten minute taxi ride from central Karakol, and about 20 minutes from the Karakol Ski Base. The hotel keeps its own kitchen garden running through the seasons. Chynara Sagyndykova, who founded the business, still oversees its day-to-day running.
