Greenfire Lodge Victoria Falls
Built to recall the era of early travellers into this region, Pioneers Lodge sits in a quiet residential pocket of Victoria Falls, 2.5 km from the falls themselves. The style nods to that period without pretending to be a museum piece: a saloon-style bar, a timeless dining room, a wide terrace for meals outdoors. Fifty rooms face lawns and garden, each with air conditioning, ceiling fans, and an en-suite bathroom with double vanity. Four family rooms add an annex with twin beds for children. Two pools sit within the grounds. There's a day spa on site, called Ukuthula, meaning peace. A 60-kilovolt-ampere solar system covers most of the lodge's power needs, backed by generators for overcast days. The bar serves a craft beer brewed with water drawn from the Zambezi. Staff run weekly litter sweeps through town as part of a local clean-up society, and food waste goes to a project that turns scraps into fertiliser and chicken feed within fourteen days. Activities run from horseback safaris through the national park to microlight flights over the falls and a tour of the historic bridge below it, completed in 1905. It stays close enough to town to walk in, far enough to stay quiet at night.
