Grotta Hotel

Hotel Grotta is set on Grotta hill, on the edge of Naxos Town, with the Aegean and the Portara gate visible from its terraces. The building is a short walk from the Venetian castle and the harbour, close enough that guests can reach the old town's markets and tavernas on foot. Rooms are simply fitted, most with a balcony or terrace facing the water, and each carries air conditioning, a phone line, satellite television, a fridge and a safe. The hotel is run by the Lianos family, who also manage the sister property Casabella nearby. Indoors, guests will find a small pool, a hamam, a sauna and a hot tub, set aside for slower mornings between excursions. Breakfast is made on site daily, a spread of jams, tarts and Naxian dishes such as potato omelette with oregano, served in a dining room walled in glass. You can watch the ferries leave for the port while eating. The hotel arranges transfers, laundry, excursions to nearby islands, and hiking, cycling or sailing trips through local operators.
