Gstaad Palace

GreenGo is the nightclub built into Gstaad Palace, the hotel that has stood above the village since 1913. It opened on 22 January 1971, conceived alongside the Palace's new indoor pool and health centre as the fixture that would anchor Gstaad's nightlife. The interior, designed by Teo Jakob, has been gently updated over the decades but never replaced, so the room still carries its original 1970s character: low light, close quarters, a stage built for dancing rather than watching. Resident DJ Jim Leblanc, who also plays in London, Monaco and Saint-Tropez, holds the residency and brings in touring acts through his contacts in the circuit. Sound has been modernised more recently, with a rebuilt system installed alongside work on the neighbouring indoor pool, which now has its own bar linking the two spaces. The kitchen sends up simple late-night food, from croque monsieur to penne alla vodka, so the night does not run on drink alone. Tables can be booked for an evening or the whole club hired outright for a private party. It sits within a hotel that has hosted performers from Louis Armstrong to Marlene Dietrich since the 1960s, though GreenGo itself belongs to a different, later era of that history. The name is more than fifty years old. The dance floor has barely changed.
