Guided Tours of the Historic Bungaree Station Complex

Established by George Hawker and his brothers in 1841, Bungaree became an extensive sheep station with 100 thousand merino sheep by the 1880s. It resembled a small village, with its own Church, Station Store, Blacksmith Shop and even the District Council Chambers, as well as its beautiful sandstone Homestead, Woolshed, Shearers Quarters, Stableyard, Managers House and other staff cottages. Now, 178 years later, it is an efficient mixed farm run by the descendants of the founder, G.C. Hawker. Consequently, Bungaree Station is not a museum but rather a living record of rural Australia since 1841. Today visitors can explore the property’s rich history or the modern farming enterprise through several tour options, including a guided tour of the historic station complex. Guided tours must be pre-booked and are available for groups of 20 or more people at $15 per person, with discounted group rates for seniors and children. Catering (morning tea, lunch and/or afternoon tea) is also available for 20 or more people groups by prior arrangement.
