Set on the Njageteck River within the Mara North Conservancy, the camp occupies private land north of the Masai Mara National Reserve. Eight tents stand along the riverbank. Ngoyanai springs feed the river and draw elephant, hippo, and plains game through the year. A resident lion pride hunts close to camp; roaring carries through the night. Richard Roberts and Liz Fusco built the camp in 2006 as a family base. Richard grew up in the Masai Mara during the 1980s, while his father Willie formed the Ol Chorro Conservancy. The camp's Maasai guides have worked with the Roberts family for decades; one staff member joined Willie in 1980.
Each tent is raised on a concrete platform with canvas walls and high netted windows that create airflow and light. Furnishings and fabrics were collected by Liz across Kenya and East Africa. Two family tents connect through a central living area; a partition divides the sleeping units. The Private Family Tent sits apart from the main camp with two en-suite bedrooms and views west over the springs. Game drives leave on flexible schedules. Walking safaris with Maasai guides cross the conservancy's wilderness tracts. Night drives track nocturnal species after dark. Bush dinners unfold under canvas with eco-charcoal ovens; breakfast buffets set up on the plains. The camp founded the Mara Elephant Project in 2011, which tracks and collars elephants to reduce poaching and mitigate human-wildlife conflict across the greater Mara ecosystem.
