Hemmingodden Lodge

Hemmingodden Lodge is set right on the harbour at Ballstad, one of the oldest and still busiest fishing villages in Lofoten. Boats are moored at the pier below the cabins. The lodge is built around a mix of traditional and modern rorbu, the wooden fishermen's cabins once used as seasonal housing for cod fishermen, now renovated with kitchens, terraces and views over the water and the surrounding mountains. Lottebua, a modern rorbu finished in 2019, sleeps six across three bedrooms with a terrace facing the inner harbour. Annebua, upgraded in 2015 but still holding its older character, is named after Anne Nilsen, grandmother of the lodge's current owner. Kokkbua is the largest cabin, five bedrooms and ten guests, with a dining table view toward Skottinden. A newer row of mini cabins on stilts, each around 21 to 25 square metres, adds compact studios with loft sleeping and large windows onto the sea. The restaurant, HEIM, opened in 2020 and seats 50, working from a seasonal menu built on Lofoten produce. Guests can charge an electric car on site, book a boat safari, hire kayaks or paddleboards, or fish with a guide. There is a sauna for after. Ballstad sits in the middle of the archipelago, making it a practical base for driving out east or west.
