Henne Kirkeby Kro

Henne Kirkeby Kro is an inn set beside the church in Henne Kirkeby, on Denmark's west coast between Henne Stationsby and Henne Strand. The main building dates to 1790, when it served travellers on the road with local fare, beer, and spirits. Behind the original façade, almost none of which was altered, the current owners rebuilt the interior after taking over in 2007, adding a thatched roof, a new kitchen, and two large rooms with generous bathrooms. A separate building, Staldgården, opened in 2010 with more rooms behind a similarly preserved shell. Twelve rooms are spread across the three buildings in total. You can walk the garden paths before lunch, past the polytunnel where tomatoes and fennel dry in the heat. Danish furniture classics and contemporary art fill the rooms throughout. The inn closes each December and reopens in spring.
