Hotel Amabilis
A century-old villa site rebuilt into a 31-room hotel on the Adriatic
Amabilis Hotel is set directly on the Adriatic shoreline in Selce, a small coastal town near Crikvenica on Croatia's Kvarner stretch. The site has history: a Viennese actress built a villa here a century before the current hotel opened its doors, in May 2012. The building now holds 31 rooms, all with sea views, ranging from 18 m² standard singles to a 66 m² Presidential Suite with a 140 m² terrace. Superior and deluxe rooms run to 26 m², each with a balcony or terrace facing the water; the Deluxe Suite adds a separate living room and a 19 m² balcony of its own.
Two restaurants, Amabilis and Chandeliers, serve Mediterranean dishes alongside Croatian and international wines. The Nautilus bar sits by the beach; the Amabilis lobby bar handles cocktails and coffee indoors. A wellness floor holds Finnish and Turkish saunas, four treatment rooms, and a gym with cardio equipment, and a couples' sauna corner is set aside for two. The panoramic pool overlooks a white terrace and the sea beyond it.
Selce itself keeps a handful of small chapels and a parish church nearby, and Plitvice Lakes National Park is a day trip inland. The hotel is a two-kilometre drive from central Crikvenica. Rooms are non-smoking throughout, and a lift serves all floors.
