Hotel Aplaus

Built into three historically protected buildings in Litomyšl's old town, Hotel Aplaus joins five centuries of architecture to a distinctly modern interior. The result is a small hotel where contemporary art and design fill rooms behind façades that once housed the town's merchants. It holds 21 double rooms and two suites, each fitted out individually, with views over the old town's rooftops, the Piaristic church spires or the monastery gardens next door. Some rooms connect, useful for families. A stone cellar beneath the hotel now serves as a wine bar, and the ground floor holds the Bohém restaurant, a private lounge and the café-bar Muuza, with terrace seating that spills onto the square in summer. The restaurant runs to nearly 200 seats and has picked up a Michelin Bib Gourmand, built on a menu that moves between Czech dishes and broader European plates. A small wellness area offers a sauna, whirlpool and massage treatments. Litomyšl's Renaissance chateau, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1999, stands a short walk away, and the hotel sits one block from Smetana Square and its run of Baroque and Empire façades. Each June the town hosts the Smetana's Litomyšl opera festival, a fixture on the local calendar for more than fifty years. Reception runs from 7am to 10pm.
