Built as a small alternative to the chain hotels along Puerto Rico's coast, Casa Verde has grown around Rincón's surf culture rather than apart from it. The hotel holds 19 rooms on the island's west coast, from standard queen rooms within earshot of the ocean to a penthouse suite with its own balcony and tanning area. A two-bedroom suite suits families who want a shared patio view but separate rooms, and a house with a private pool and two bedrooms sits in front of the property's fire pit terrace. It is a small, informal set-up. Big Kahuna Burger Bar serves lunch and dinner on site daily, and the front desk doubles as an activities counter, arranging fishing charters, bio bay tours and airport transfers. Boards can be rented online or at the hotel, and surf lessons can be bundled into a stay as a package rather than booked separately. You can hear the ocean from some of the standard rooms, and the beach is within walking distance. All rooms carry air conditioning, satellite television, Wi-Fi and a safe box. The hotel sits on Rincón's western shore, built for a slower, board-under-arm kind of stay rather than a resort circuit.
