Hotel CPH LIVING

Moored at the quay on Langebrogade, Hotel Cph Living occupies a converted barge floating on Copenhagen's harbour, a short walk from the old town. The hull began as a barge built in Germany, then was towed to Poland for lengthening and on to a shipyard in Estonia for fitting out, before crossing the Baltic Sea to settle at its current berth in 2008. It opened as a hotel in 2009. Twelve double rooms line the water side behind full glass walls, each with a view over the harbour and the city skyline beyond. Danish furniture classics sit alongside custom pieces, and pale timber runs through floors, window frames and fittings. Bathrooms carry the same maritime palette, in tones of green and blue, and a glazed panel lets the harbour view reach in as far as the shower. Curtains vanish when open but black out the glass completely when drawn. A rooftop terrace, fitted with sun beds and plants, gives guests a wide angle on the water and the rooftops around it. The hotel runs on a geothermal system that draws heat from the sea to warm the rooms. It is a small, family-run operation, with owners taking weekend shifts and a daily manager on weekdays. Rooms include wifi, heated floors and a hairdryer. There is no car park; parking is on the street.
