Hotel Gródek
Gródek Hotel is set on Na Gródku, a narrow lane folded into Kraków's Old Town, a short walk from Main Market Square. The site once held one of the district's early medieval defensive structures, and excavations carried out during the hotel's construction uncovered traces of the old moat and two front houses dating to the second half of the 14th century, later joined into one building in 1878. That history stays underfoot rather than on display. Rooms are individually arranged rather than uniform, each with air conditioning, a minibar, a safe and a private bathroom with hairdryer and basic toiletries. Some pair a main room with a small anteroom. A library bar gives the ground floor a second, quieter register in the evening. Guests can also use a sauna, a patio and a rooftop terrace, useful for taking the Old Town's rooflines in without the crowds below. The lane itself keeps street noise at a distance, a rare thing this close to the market square. It is a compact stay, built for guests who want the centre of Kraków without staying on top of it.
