Opened in 1977, Hotel Kazakhstan was built as one of the defining architectural projects of its era, and it remains a fixture on the Almaty skyline. The design paired late-modernist lines with real engineering ambition: the tower was built to withstand a magnitude-9 earthquake, an uncommon feat for its time. Its elliptical form and gold crown made it recognisable across the city and the country, and the building is now listed on the state register of historic monuments.
Rooms range from Standard and Superior through Deluxe, Premium, Family, Executive Suite and Grand Suite, each with a safe, cable TV, air conditioning, a minibar and en-suite bathroom. Many look over the city. The hotel sits in central Almaty, within the business and administrative core of the city.
Seven restaurants operate on site, from Chardelle's bakery counter to Ziyafet Meat House and BarFly, set on the 26th floor. A karaoke restaurant, Dolce, runs high above the street. Event space spans seven halls, from the 30 m² Ulytau room to the Grand Ballroom, which holds up to 800 guests under a 7 m ceiling. A beauty salon, currency exchange and round-the-clock security round out the amenities. Wi-Fi covers the whole hotel.
