Hotel La Perla 1858

Walking through the arched entrance of Hotel La Perla 1858 means stepping into a mansion built by a cotton-era nobleman in 1858, one of the few neo-classical buildings left standing in León. A renovation in 2020 enlarged the rooms while keeping the original facade, so no two look quite alike even within the same category. The result holds 23 rooms across three wings: ten in the original house, five around the pool patio, and eight in a newer annex. Antique maps, paintings and furniture from the 1800s sit throughout the public rooms, and a grand interior patio, reserved for guests, anchors the layout. Rooms carry king or queen Serta beds, air conditioning, cable TV and a private bathroom with hot water; several open onto balconies over the street or the entrance courtyard. Bistró 1858 serves Nicaraguan and international dishes off the same patio. There is a pool for the heat of the day. Guests can arrange volcano boarding on Cerro Negro, a beach run to Las Peñitas or Poneloya, or a walk to León Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site nearby. Parking is secured, on site. Check-in runs from 2pm, check-out at 11am.
