Hotel Laja Real

Hotel Laja Real is built on a broad slab of rock above the Orinoco, the feature that gave the property its name. The hotel sits opposite Ciudad Bolívar's airport, five minutes from the city's colonial centre and its riverside promenade. Rooms are air-conditioned, with minibars, fridges and Wi-Fi throughout. The pool is the hotel's clearest identity mark: a curved slide, a small waterfall, and lights that come on after dark. It is a compact stay, but a social one. A gym and five meeting rooms, which can hold groups of up to 500, round out the facilities. Guests check in with a magnetic key rather than a conventional one, and corridors are monitored by camera. For most visitors, Hotel Laja Real functions as a stop before or after the journey into Bolívar's interior — comfortable, watched over, and built quite literally into the rock beneath it.
