Hotel Nemzeti Budapest MGallery by Sofitel
Budapest's grand boulevard hotel, set beneath a nineteenth-century stained-glass roof
Skip to product information
Crowned by a nineteenth-century stained-glass roof, the Gallery Café glows amber over breakfast tables and sets the tone for the whole hotel. Light filters through the glasswork onto secession-style plasterwork and modern art hung along the atrium, a combination the hotel plays up rather than hides. It is a compact stay: 80 rooms and suites, from 15 m² classic doubles to a 33 m² suite with a separate living room and Nespresso machine. Junior Suites add a sofa and steamer; several rooms look onto the street or an inner courtyard rather than each other. The Lobby Bar pours a house cocktail built on pálinka and gin, and the same stained-glass atrium doubles as a private event space, hosting dinners for up to 100 guests beneath the original roof. A separate Library Room, fitted with modern sound and video equipment, takes meetings for up to 45. The hotel sits on József körút, Budapest's grand boulevard, a two-minute walk from the M2 metro and 24-hour trams. Keleti railway station is 15 minutes on foot, the National Museum closer still. Liszt Ferenc Airport is a 30-minute drive. Breakfast runs on a buffet with hot and cold dishes, plus an à la carte menu of Hungarian specialities and gluten-free options. Parking is off-site at BOE Parking, with 209 spaces.
