Hotel Slottsvillan
Built in 1895 as a private residence for a Huskvarna factory director and his family of nine, the house stands heritage-listed above the town, its turrets and stucco ceilings intact. Four floors hold a reception, salon, dining room, wine cellar and billiard room, alongside a sauna and terraces used for private events. The main building sleeps 21 guests across two suites, nine doubles and three singles, with a sister property, Slottsparken, adding 20 more rooms on the same grounds. It is a twelve-room hotel at its core. Rooms keep the high ceilings and creaking wood floors of the original house, fitted now with Nespresso machines, flat-screen TVs and Wi-Fi. The restaurant carries a White Guide recommendation, and a cellar below the house hosts Saturday tastings run by an in-house sommelier, covering wine, cheese, chocolate and champagne pairings. Grounds include a waterfall and walking paths, with cycling, canoeing and hiking routes close by. You can hear the sauna's heat give way to a walk past the falls before dinner. Owners Christian and Michaela took over the property in 2018, after careers spanning Absolut Vodka and Jacob's Creek, and run it now as both hotel and event venue for weddings and conferences. Breakfast is served each morning in the same rooms where, by local account, ministers and industrialists once dined.
