Hotel Timila
Set beneath a rooftop that opens in a full circle above the tiled rooflines of Old Patan, Hotel Timila takes its name from a Newar word for bright moon, a nod to the view of open sky from the top floor. The hotel sits on a quiet street in Patan's heritage quarter, three minutes on foot from Patan Museum and Patan Durbar Square, five from the Golden Temple. Rooms are few by design. Twin rooms, queen rooms, a bamboo suite, two studios, and two apartments make up the count, each fitted with air conditioning, wi-fi, and a kettle, and several with a private kitchen or a semi-private terrace. The bamboo suite has its own bathroom and a queen bed alongside a minibar, aimed at a quieter, more private stay. Downstairs, a garden gives the ground floor a patch of shade and green against the brick. Breakfast runs to Nepali and pan-Asian plates, from momo to sekuwa. Airport transfers can be arranged on request, along with taxis for day trips around the valley. Guests can watch the evening light cross the temple roofs from the rooftop terrace, a fair trade for the compact room count.
