Check-in at Hotel YAN puts guests on Jalan Besar, once a district of ship breaking and metal trading, now lined with cafes and hardware shops in equal measure. The building keeps its industrial bones: washed concrete walls, exposed steel pipework, and iron-and-wood fittings run through the lobby and up into the rooms. It is a compact stay, ten storeys of no-frills design rather than communal lounges or a pool. Rooms range from an 8m² Single Loft with a sleeping perch above a small sitting corner, up to the 28m² Luxury Suite, which adds a bathtub, a separate seating area, and a king bed. All rooms carry a minibar restocked daily, a rain shower, and high-speed Wifi. The Deluxe rooms and suite open onto a balcony or courtyard view, a rare feature this close to the city centre. There is no pool, no gym, and no breakfast service, though cafes cluster within walking distance. Lavender and Bendemeer MRT stations sit roughly eight minutes on foot, with Farrer Park a few minutes further. Little India and Kampong Glam, two of the city's oldest ethnic quarters, lie on either side of the hotel. Changi Airport is about a 30-minute drive. Check-in runs from 2pm.
