iBhubesi Private Game Lodge

IBhubesi Private Game Lodge sits inside Welgevonden Private Game Reserve, a malaria-free Big Five reserve in the Limpopo bushveld near Vaalwater, around two and a half to three hours by road from Johannesburg. The lodge books as a whole: you take it entirely for your group, which means a private ranger, a dedicated game vehicle, and no other guests sharing the camp.

Five en-suite chalets sleep up to ten adults in total, each with a balcony or deck, a fireplace, an outside shower, and cotton linen. Children can be placed in single beds inside the double or twin chalets. The arrangement on meals is self-catering in principle — you bring your own food and drink — but the resident chef cooks and the staff clean, so in practice you do very little yourself.

The main lodge holds the lounge, dining area, and kitchen, and opens onto a swimming pool and viewing deck that looks across the iBhubesi plains. Game walks and night drives are available alongside the standard morning and afternoon game drives. Welgevonden carries lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo, as well as good birdlife throughout the reserve.

Secure parking is available at the lodge, and the reserve is reached via the road through Vaalwater.
